A Facebook account under the name “Cho Nick Face” has recently gone viral among Vietnamese students, after being linked to a bizarre mix of messages, rumors, and trending topics. The account, which first appeared to offer help to students who had suffered burns during a school incident, quickly became a source of curiosity due to its strange and disjointed posts.

Students reported receiving messages that combined Vietnamese, English, and fragments from pop culture, including references to anime, movies like Infinity War, music by BTS, and tech brands such as Chrome and Canon. Some even noted mentions of current events like weather updates, social justice, and tourism tips — all within a single post.

“It felt like a chatbot had gone rogue,” said Minh Thảo, a high school junior in Hà Tĩnh. “One moment it talked about Similac and washing machines, and the next it was quoting love lyrics and listing YouTube channels.”

Parents and educators have expressed concern over the potential influence of the account, especially on younger students who may not distinguish satire or AI-generated content from fact. Meanwhile, tech experts speculate the page may have been generated using an automated content tool or AI spambot, meant to draw engagement through keyword stuffing.

Authorities have advised users to avoid interacting with unfamiliar accounts and to report any suspicious online activity. While the true purpose of “Cho Nick Face” remains unclear, it has opened a broader conversation about digital literacy and online safety among Vietnamese youth.

The Education Ministry has promised to investigate further, especially given the rising concern over misinformation on social platforms.
