Convicted murderer Taylor Schabusiness, 27, is scheduled to stand trial from October 27 to 29, 2025, on charges stemming from an alleged assault on a prison guard at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution .

In July 2024, Schabusiness reportedly sought medical help after a staple lodged in her arm. As correctional staff prepared to remove it, she allegedly “lunged” at the attending nurse. A sergeant tried to intervene, prompting Schabusiness to swing a small metal table, striking the officer in the head. The sergeant ultimately subdued her with pepper spray and required hospital treatment for injuries.

On June 3, 2025, Schabusiness appeared in Fond du Lac County Court, escorted by six deputies. She was restrained—feet shackled, hands cuffed—and closely monitored due to a history of courtroom outbursts, including:

  • Lunging at her former lawyer, Curtis Julka, during an April hearing in the current case.
  • A similar incident in 2023 involving another attorney during her murder trial.

Her courtroom demeanor prompted Judge Anthony Nehls to warn that any further misconduct could result in her removal from future proceedings.

Schabusiness’s defense attorney, Christopher Froelich, requested during the June proceedings that Judge Nehls recuse himself, as he had witnessed the April outburst. The judge declined, suggesting a formal motion could be filed.

Additionally, a motion hearing on October 8, 2025, is scheduled to determine whether Schabusiness will remain restrained during the trial

Defendant’s Profile & History
Schabusiness is currently serving life without parole for the February 2022 murder, dismemberment, and sexual assault of her boyfriend, Shad Thyrion, in Green Bay. Judges in her murder trial rejected her insanity plea and convicted her on charges of first‑degree murder, mutilating a corpse, and third‑degree sexual assault
